In 2000, Chairwalla began as a furniture business in North Delhi, founded by Mr. Rakesh Malhotra and Mr. Rajesh Malhotra. With their own manufacturing operation, they started with a simple belief: good furniture should be made well and built to last.
Outdoor furniture was at the heart of what we made from the beginning. At a time when imported Chinese products held a significant share of the market, Chairwalla chose to manufacture in India rather than compete by simply making furniture cheaper.
We believed there was another way.
Make it better. Make it last. Make it for the way people live.
Over the years, that belief earned us something more valuable than recognition: customers who kept coming back.
A name for the way

In 2016, The Courtyard was introduced as the outdoor furniture brand of Chairwalla—giving a distinct identity to what we had been making for years.
The name was deliberately simple. A courtyard is a space outside: a place to sit, gather, relax and spend time. It represents what we believe outdoor furniture should ultimately do—not simply occupy a space, but become part of how that space is lived in.
The Courtyard was built to take that philosophy forward as a brand.

Our manufacturing roots remain at the centre of it. We continue to make our furniture in India, giving us control over the details that matter. We offer customisation around individual spaces and requirements, and stand behind our products with a three-year on-site warranty.
Because outdoor spaces are rarely standard.
Neither should the furniture in them be.
After 26 years in the business, the fundamentals haven't changed. We still believe in manufacturing rather than taking the easier route. We still believe quality creates relationships that last. And we still believe furniture should be made for years of living, not for a season.
